Playing At The Next Level

Alexander Ramirez, a senior at Elk City High School, has committed to play soccer with Southwestern Christian University in Bethany.

Although he is undecided in his major, he has considered psychology or international business.

“He was a good leader on and off the field, had a little injury at the beginning of the season but was still at practice every single day and wanted to get back on the field. He wasn’t always the biggest guy on the field but he sure played like it. He will represent Elk City and represent Elk City well,” said Coach Shelton.

Alex is excited to be playing at the next level with a great college soccer team and glad to be joining Adam Ray on the field again. Adam graduated from ECHS in May 2018, and he also signed with SCU.

The SCU Eagles compete at a division 1 level and are a member of the NCCAA. The Eagles have had eight National Champion appearances and have three consecutive national championship titles 2016, 2017 and, the most recent in 2018. The Eagles took on Bethel College for the championship final and won the national championship title 5-3.

“It feels good to be able to play with Alex again. He’s a great player, and I’m excited to see what he brings to the pitch,” said Adam Ray.

He started playing soccer when he was only four years old and has played with many different teams and made many friendships. Alex had one goal his freshman year, two as a sophomore, seven junior year, and nine goals senior year.

“My senior year didn’t go as expected, but it was still a great season. I feel excited and happy that I get to continue my soccer career and play at the next level,” said Ramirez.
