Art Students Place at Metcalfe

Students from around the state participated in the annual Augusta Metcalfe Art Competition. There were 334 entries with eight Elk City students placing this year. Kamryn Gowdy placed second in mixed media, Daniela Olivia placed third in mixed media, Kimberly Perez placed third in black and white pencil, Edith Bustillos placed third in C.P. drawing, Donovon Rupp placed second graphic arts, Jordan Deason placed third in sculpture, Raylee Tarrant and Dara Roper got an honorable mention in painting.

The Metcalfe Art Gallery, in Durham, OK, was made in memory of Augusta Metcalfe and her art, along with displays from other locals as well. Augusta entered and placed in many art competitions including the Oklahoma State Fair. Her love for art is continued through the art gallery and the hosting of young artist competitions at the museum.
