The seniors walked the field of Big Elk Stadium one last time for senior night recognition on October 26. Seniors in football, cross country, softball, cheer, choir and band took the field before the football game to wait for the announcer to call their name. “It felt weird because I’ve been playing on this field since the seventh grade, and it felt weird playing my last game on this field,” said Dylan Abla.
At halftime, grades fifth through twelfth played while standing in the formation of the word “ELKS”. The fifth through eighth graders got a taste of being on the field with the upperclassmen they look up to and to see what it’ll be like when they get to high school band. “It’s crazy to go back and think of us back in the fifth grade and getting to be on the field during mass band with all the big kids and looking up to them, dreaming of what it’s going to be like when we are in the seniors’ place. Now here we are, marching for the last time in high school. I would go back to the fifth grade and do it all over again just to relive those days of looking up to someone because now everyone is looking up to us,” said Brittney Bashaw.
