In week seven, the Elks hosted their long-time rival the Clinton Red Tornadoes. Last year the Elks beat the Tornadoes for the first time since the 1998 state championship game. This year Clinton came back for a win over the Elks, 41-14. The Elks defense played well in the first half, although they gave up three touchdowns. “Our defense got better, and so did the amount of effort we gave. Clinton had to run some plays that they didn’t run against other teams,” said Coach Beer.

The Elk offense didn’t have a hard time moving the ball down the field, with quarterback Caden Culver passing for 228 yards. They just couldn’t punch it in for a touchdown. “All we can do now is forget about the loss and focus on Newcastle next week. I believe we are all improving, and we are working harder every day in practice to get better as a team,” said Culver.

The Elks travel for 7:00 p.m. kickoff in Newcastle October 18.
